Last updated 11 October 2026. JoinUs is a small app for sharing plans with friends. David Peterson runs it through RetroInnovation LLC. This page says what JoinUs keeps about you, who can see it, and how to have it deleted.
If you host plans, JoinUs keeps your email address, your password (stored scrambled, so no one can read it), and the name your guests see. It also keeps the plans you make: their titles, descriptions, places, times, capacity and any cost you note, the audiences you sort them into, and the links you share. A link is stored only as a scrambled code: you see the link once, and JoinUs keeps no readable copy.
If you open a link as a guest, you don’t make an account. JoinUs remembers you on that device with a random ID, so you can see the plan and answer it. When you answer, it keeps the name you give, your answer (Going or Can’t go) and, if you add one, your email address, which JoinUs doesn’t check. You can change your name or remove your email on My plans.
The host of a plan sees the name, answer and email address of everyone who answers it. Other guests see only the names of the people going and how many are going: never who can’t go, and never anyone’s email address. Invite-only and private plans never appear on a host’s page.
JoinUs emails you only about plans you answered: a confirmation, a note when a plan changes or is cancelled, and a reminder the day before. Every email has a link to stop them. Hosts also get emails about their own account, such as confirming their address or resetting a password. JoinUs sends no newsletters and no ads.
JoinUs has no ads, no analytics and no tracking pixels, and it never sells your details or shares them for marketing. Its only cookies keep you signed in, or keep your guest identity, on your device.
A few services run JoinUs, and each handles your details only to do its part: Supabase stores the data and runs sign-in, Vercel hosts the website, Resend sends the emails, and Cloudflare Turnstile checks that a visitor is a person when they sign in or first open a link. Their servers are in the United States. Their logs record visits, including the address of each page opened and the visitor’s IP address, and each service keeps its logs for a limited time.
A guest identity that hasn’t answered anything for 12 months is deleted. You can have your details deleted sooner, or ask what JoinUs holds about you: ask David in your group chat. Deleting a host’s account also deletes the plans they host and the answers to them.
Hosts must be 18 or older. JoinUs isn’t meant for children under 13, and anything that turns out to belong to one is deleted.
If this notice changes in a way that matters, David will say so in the group chat, and the date at the top will change. Questions about your privacy go to David.
